About The New Next

“Just for a second there I thought I saw something move...”
Bob Dylan, Things Have Changed (2000)

“The New Next” photoblog shows different aspects of changes and shifts in the world of work, in the economy and in society. It is a joint project of Deutsche Bank and the renowned OSTKREUZ agency.

The blog starts with works by Tobias Kruse and Heinrich Holtgreve.

Kruse travelled across the US in spring 2017 for “In America”, stopping in New York, Detroit, Boulder and Austin. He brought back his photographic impressions of a country straddling the steel industry and startup scene.

For his “Once We All Agree” project, Holtgreve searched for locations devoted to money — both public and secret places — and photographed money in all its forms: from antique copper plate money to commercial bitcoin mining.

OSTKREUZ was founded by seven East German photographers in 1990. Today it is Germany’s most successful image authors’ coalition run by photographers.

The idea for the joint blog was hatched in the winter of 2016 at Deutsche Bank — the result of a shared interest in showcasing the many facets of economic and social upheaval using a variety of visual signatures.

Apart from “The New Next” photoblog, the bank has curated the Economy Stories video platform for several years.
